I will be submitting this piece, titled “Tiny Bluet”, to a silent auction at the end of this month. The Portobello West Market is hosting the auction as a fundraiser for the B.C. Women’s Hospital. The autumn has definitely begun here in Vancouver. I’ve always been more of a tropical beach, bungalow, and hammock girl. All this rain will hopefully be motivation to spend weekends in the studio. At least I can bring out my new fall jacket and boots!

Here are a couple pics of a piece I gave my sister and her new hubby as a wedding gift. It’s 22 x 28″. This was the first piece in a series I am now working on, which I will be posting as it goes.

I wanted to try something a little different.

This is another piece I completed for a co-worker. This was a gift for a little girl in her family named Naya.

I’m looking forward to another Saturday morning at Arts Umbrella here in Vancouver. I am an instructor’s assistant for the preschool visual art classes.
Arts Umbrella is a fantastic, non-profit, visual and performing arts institute for children. They see 30,000 students a year, and two-thirds of them attend without charge. Check out the link to their website if you would like to learn more.
I love being a part of it, and love seeing the kids’ artwork and talking with them about it. Had a great time hearing about the spaceship a boy was drawing, because it had landed in his front yard that morning. Kids are fantastic inspiration!

If you haven’t checked out their sites or work, I recommend going to www.jilliantamaki.com and www.sampaints.com. Fantastic work! Gives me something to aspire to…

I finished this piece a little while ago for one of my coworkers (yes, I have a day job. Gotta pay the bills, yo). She bought it as a gift for her baby niece. I was thinking about “The Selfish Giant” by Oscar Wilde for this one.

This piece is called “Winkin’, Blinkin’ & Nod” after the childrens’ lullaby. I imagined this as book cover. Took a few tries, but I am really happy with this one. I’ve also just sold the original!

As an illustrator, hiding away in my little basement studio, I couldn’t be more excited to share my work with the outside world. I would love to hear what you think.
