I just finished a few new studies of a tulip for the Botanical Illustration course I am taking. Next week we move on to the technical painting, and I am a bit nervous. The painting practice has been quite challenging. There are a number of retired ladies in the class, and I envy the amount of time they have been able to put in. Don’t suppose anyone knows an art patron with no one to patronize…
I am taking a six-week course in Botanical Illustration from the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design, and this is one of the studies I have completed. It’s interesting to approach the subject from such a technical point of view, since I haven’t done such detailed drawing since I was a kid. I’ll keep posting as I go…
At last the rain has stopped! It’s lovely and sunny, so I could take a couple pictures of the latest painting in the flower series. This is titled “Black-Eyed Susan” and the piece is 10″ x 20″.
I’m working on another painting in the flower series. Hopefully I will be posting it soon!
