What Grows: Opening Night!

Thank you so much to everyone who attended the opening night for my first Vancouver show and first solo show. It was a thrill to have so many people there and to see such a positive response to my work. The show is up until April 29th, so drop by The Flower Factory if you’re in the neighbourhood.

Illustrating Democracy will be delayed one week since my painting show opens this Thursday. Check back next Thursday, April 3 to submit your comment! Thanks for your patience, m’dears.

Here’s the newest addition to the flower series, just under the wire for the opening this Thursday. It’s titled Camellia and measures 11 x 17″. It was a surprising challenge to work with such a light palette and I’m pleased to have finally finished.

It’s that time again… submit your comments and the first one received will be an illustration next week. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Illustrating Democracy: Cherry Blossoms

Thanks to Debbie for her comment last Thursday asking for an illustration of cherry blossoms. They are just starting to bloom here and I am really looking forward to petals snowing down on me as I walk to and from home. My first thought for this illustration was to start with a tree, but I have been wanting to show more movement in an illustration and get a little less literal.
Y’know I’d love to hear what you think! Don’t be shy!

Come one, come all! Leave a comment for me to illustrate. First one wins!

Illustrating Democracy: A Day at the Beach

Thanks to Chad for this week’s winning comment. Above is my illustration for “a day at the beach”. Let me know what you think: is it working? Can you see the image clearly on the blog? Would you prefer airbrushed cave ladies in loincloths fighting robotic ants? Check back on Thursday to make your voice heard!

Illustrating Democracy!

It’s Thursday, which means two things: we’re one step closer to the weekend and it’s time for you to submit a comment for me to illustrate. First one wins!

Illustrating Democracy: Response to this site

I was asked to choose one of the illustrations from the site above and re-imagine it in my own style. Scroll down and guess which one I chose… I love hearing your feedback! (Click on the pic for a larger version)

Check in on Thursday for my next solicitation for comments.

Here’s the latest in the flower series: Bittersweet Nightshade. It’s just a lil one, 11×17″ and will be available for sale at my show opening March 27th at The Flower Factory.
