Just returned from a wonderful visit with my family in Kelowna, including my new little baby niece (who happens to have the most squeezable cheeks!). Christmas was lovely, and one of my favourite gifts is the best book ever. For real. Charley Harper: An Illustrated Life. It comes in big, expensive size and smaller, affordable size. I got the lil one and I’m in love.

His exuberant yet minimal design is glorious! Each creature is immediately identifiable but not overworked. The patterns of nature are apparent. So much inspiration here! Yee haw! (Oops, just back from Kelowna, it slipped out)
The holidays are here again,
My cupboards full of baking
The weather’s cold and chilly,
and there’s art I should be making
There’s a canvas I’ve painted, sanded, and painted again
Oh, how long this seems to be taking!
It’s that time again (hardy har har)!

Yup, it’s another clock! This is a lil buddy on a cradled panel. I actually finished it a while ago, but the whirl of Festivus prep and parties have distracted me from blogging (not to mention the growing piles of cookies).
