Winter patterns
Summer colours and patterns
After all this talk about patterns in nature, I figured I’d take my camera out to the backyard and see what caught my eye. Of course, this was a week or two ago when summer was still with us. Ain’t she purdy?
A friend sent me this link after I expressed my interest in patterns in nature, and man oh man I wish I’d thought of this.
‘Course, I would have had to acquire a wealth of mathematical skill and knowledge that I currently, and likely never will, possess. Me make pictures, ooh ooh ooh.
Patterns, patterns everywhere
Over the last few months, I’ve been thinking a lot about patterns and repetition in nature, in art, in my artwork. Mostly I’m fascinated by the patterns of nature. If you are not already familiar with the Fibonacci sequence appearing in nature, check this out.
And who doesn’t love a little romanesque broccoli for good measure?!

I think that’s just about the most beautiful object there is.
We didn’t spend much time in un-manicured nature while travelling through Europe, but patterns are everywhere in the man-made as well…
